Every piece that leaves our atelier carries with it a quiet history. It begins not with a machine or a mould, but with an idea — often a simple sketch drawn by hand. From that first line on paper, the piece slowly takes shape through careful selection, patient craftsmanship, and repeated refinement until it feels ready to meet the skin.
This is how a Rabbit Forest pearl is made.
The Journey of Making
The process begins with design. A sketch is created to explore form, proportion, and how the piece might sit on the body. This stage is not rushed. It is a period of consideration, where small decisions about curve, length, and balance are made with the wearer in mind.
Once the design direction is clear, materials are carefully selected. Each pearl is examined individually for its lustre, shape, and character. We look for pearls that feel alive in the hand — those with a natural depth that will interact beautifully with light. At the same time, the gold vermeil components are chosen to ensure the warmth and quality of the metal will complement the pearl rather than compete with it.
A prototype is then created. This version exists to be tested — worn, adjusted, and observed in motion. It is through this stage that we understand how the piece truly behaves. Comfort, balance, and presence are all considered until the design feels resolved.
Only when the prototype meets our standards does the piece move into final production. Each pearl is set with precision, and the gold elements are brought together with care. This stage demands steady hands and deep attention, as even minor adjustments can affect how the jewellery sits and feels against the body.
Before any piece leaves the atelier, it undergoes a final quality check. We examine the setting, the finish, the security of clasps, and the overall harmony of the design. Only when it feels complete does it move forward — ready to begin its life with the person who will wear it.
Why the Process Matters
The making of jewellery is not simply a technical sequence. It is an act of care. Every decision — from the first sketch to the final inspection — is made with the knowledge that this piece will accompany someone through their life.
